GMAYNE INTERVIEW CHECK IT OUT !

Interview Of The Week Gmayne****pt 1 Of 2 One Of The Realest

INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK
PART 1 OF 2
GMAYNE

Q:Whats up Gmayne How are you?

A: Aww you know, slow motion, keepin it Shucky Ducky n shitz.. Doin some MySpace networkin heavily sedated on that Ghetto Minute Maid! (Kool-AId)

Q:HOW Long have you been producing and rapping?

A: Huh? Hold up, gotta turn up my miracle ear.... What was that again?

Q:HOW Long have you been producing and rapping?

A. For a while now.. I've gotten old while doing it.. hearing is going bad.... I've been producing for about 19 years, and rapping longer than that.. I wrote my first rap in 1982 as a kid... My parents would be partyin drunk as shit wakin me
up out my GATDAMN sleep to come perform for they drunk ass friends... At the time I just wanted somebody to shoot
me!

Q:What made you decide to start making beats?

A: I discovered one of the few cats around here that made beats at that time had a gun, and I couldnt steal his equipment
without getting shot.. So I decided to get my own... Nah just playin... I rapped for a long time with no beats, and dudes
around here was on some favortism crap.. They didnt even want money, it was just them and they crew, and they didnt want to outsiders.. Finally in 1989 a dude I went to school with taught me to program a drum machine and sample, from then it was on...

Q: What do you enjoy about producing?

A. The groupies, free sex and drugs.. OOOHH MAN you missin out on the drugs Phoenix! J/K, producing is a great mental outlet for me, to sit and create something out of nothing and make money off of it is crazy... Plus it's a never-ending learning process... That's the best thing about it... And Rocbattle.com was a great avenue because I discovered a lot about producing that I didnt know... It allowed me to be a student of the game again... It made producing fun for me again... Here in my town knowledge is very limited and dudes dont share information.. I love talking to cats like Steve Vicious, Master Hurrikane, RNS Clinton Place and Music Mystro and others because they got so much knowledge about producing... So I literally feel like I'm starting all over again

Q:You been in the game a minute so whats some credits you can proudly say you have accomplished?

A. I dont have any major production credits but I've worked with and performed on stage with cats like Tech N9ne before he became as big as he is now, I've produced a lot of local albums and singles, as well as a few of my own, and was even in a few commercials for other artists and DJ's... Just to show you how limited knowledge is around here I didnt even know you were supposed to SUBMIT BEATS to labels and artists.. I thought for a long time that you just got them off your reputation... So I learned to submit beats once I got on Rocbattle.. Crazy aint it?

Q. Whats the motivation behind the rapping?

A. It used to be so I could murder another rapper, just the thought of makin someone tuck they tail in a battle was all I needed.... I used to rap like there was no tomorrow and embarass dudes... Then I started getting into a lot of trouble, and I started rapping about what I saw and what I'd been thru... I got a lot of potnas who rap to eat, even a lot of my West Coast homies do it to eat...

Q:IF EVERYBODY DOESNT KNOW YOU PRODUCE AND ARE A LYRICIST DO YOU FIND IT EASIER TO MAKE BEATS FOR YOURSELF OR DO YOU PREFER TO USE OTHER?

A. I prefer to mix up the vibe, my upcoming album is just that... My own production along with production from other producers on here.. I've been accused of "cheating" by doing this, which has GOT to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard..
Because I got beats from other producers who got hot shit readily available for use, and it's just sitting there, I'm not supposed to use that avenue and work with them? I'm just supposed to have an album with all my OWN beats? I'm not so egotistical that I cant see this certain producer's track would be a great addition to my album.. Maybe that's how it is in some places, but that aint how it's done where I'm from.. As a matter of fact, who has an album full of they own beats that you know of in the industry?

Q:COMING UP WHO OR WHAT INFLUENCED YOU THE MOST IN MUSIC?

A. Oh you know, all the greatest pimp hands.. Ike Turner, Joe Jackson.. nowadays I'm inspired by the new wave of talent like Chris Breezy... Aight, all jokes aside... I'm inspired and influenced by new as well as old, from Rakim to T.I., Ice Cube to Jeezy... I'm a big Scarface fan, love UGK, because they describe my old lifestyle.. Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane.. One group who I used to really dig was hardcore and underground out of Philly and that was Tuff Crew..

Q:Whats your favorite piece of equipment /software?

A. For a long time it was a Roland W-30, and before that the SP-1200.... Nowadays the Fantom and MPC2000XL, and Reason 3.0, and Protools... I like software, but it's hard to get used to the latency with software.. but I'm a pad junkie for life. so I'll never get rid of my MPC... I also have a background in DJ'ing, and I used to love crate digging.. But dudes on here havent been able to see what I can really do because I dont get hyped up over battling, and I just dont see the point of selling beats for the prices they do on here

Q: who are your top 5 producers rocbattle or not and why?

A. My favorite Rocbattle producers, are
1. Steve Vicious (he's actually the reason I came to the site, for those that dont know Steve is real heavy on the West Coast underground, and I used to hear a lot about him because WC underground music is real big here) It's crazy to see he's on the same grind as me though, that just shows how tough it is to get in the game.. Very inspiring producer...

2. Youngfyre- for a dude to be so young and only 5 years beatmaking, he's crazy
3. Clinton Place- a constant reminder to NEVER be afraid to do you.
4. RNS- look no further for flawless mixing ability and composition
5. Music Mystro- even though he not on here anymore, dude is an excellent producer

Q: What do you think sets you apart from everybody else?

A. What separates me is I'm about tearing a track apart, not whining over a track just to display swag.. I hate soft lyrics.. Plus I have that kind of voice that's gonna put you in that Scarface/ Ice Cube mode... Not to mention I'm good at combining different genres of hip-hop...

Q. Whats the best advice you have ever received in the music game?

A. 1. Buy a Casio, it'll pay for itself
2. Copy Vanilla Ice, you cant go wrong
3. Sign with Suge Knight, he changed his ways!
Well, the Casio was the shit only if you made music for Nintendo (the old one), I read Vanilla Ice's lyrics to some white kids and got BOOO'D just for reading them out loud, and I went to Death Row Records and spoke to Suge. Kurupt was there too, and he kept winking at me, at first I thought he was on some gay shit, I learned later that he was signaling for help

After this I learned to watch who I take advice from, and watch what advice you take, or end up winking at niggas like Kurupt...

Q. Where are you hailing from?

A. Born in Kansas City Missouri, partially raised by my California family, and my relatives in Denver

Q. What led you to rocbattle.com?

A. Well like I said earlier I'm a fan on West Coast underground music like C-Bo, Brotha Lynchhung, E-40 (in his indie days) and others and I used to see Steve Vicious' name on some of the production credits.. I was watching this dvd called "Rap or Die" about up and coming San Diego rappers and Steve Vicious was there again.. So one day I googled his name and found he had a myspace page, and that's where I saw the Rocbattle.com banner. I had never heard of beat battling before, so when I came here I seen Youngfyre had defeated Rockwilder himself? Then I saw the holiday battle where Steve Vicious defeated Kafaeno, and I was hooked.. It immediately made me wanna step it up with my best material, so I eventually joined the site....

Q. What albums are you currently listening to?

A. I really dont listen to a lot of nothing anymore.. If anything, I'm listening to my instrumentals and freestyling in my car... If I do bump somebody it'll be the latest shit from C-Bo, Game, Rick Ross, Scarface, UGK, or some local shit.. You'll find yourself starting to sound like people you listen to so watch how much you bang your favorite artists.

Q. What projects are you currently working on?

A. Right now, just my project "Rise 2 Power", it's gonna be a killer project ya'll... I've received some incredible shit from some high powered cats on here.. It's gonna feature production from Steve Vicious, Youngfyre, Jokey, RNS, Arkutec, Miklo Sanchez, Master Hurrikane, and others.... The progress of the album has been pushed back due to my recent legal issues which is pissing me off.. There are other producers I've talked to like Clint, JJ Malone, and TuKeyz that I wanna work with but I cant purchase th tracks I want because of all this..

Q. What other talents do you have?

A. My pimp hand is 2nd to none, I can smack new memories in ya brain over my paper, ya feel me? For real, I'm a pretty good artist. I got a mean bench press (well had one, I'm on the injured/reserve list).. And I'll tax that ass in bowling, so for all ya'll that think you got game, come with at least $5,000 and ya ego, I'mma take both, and if you bring dreams, I'mma take those too!!!

Q. How much do you feel that hip hop has changed since you started?

A. It has changed DRAMATICALLY!! No more break beats, just sampled drums and kicks from those breaks. From rapping as fast you can over a fast beat to rapping as fast as you can to a slow beat.. Beat signatures have changed... What has changed to most to be is the free practice of BITING.. Biting is still Taboo, it's kinda what we call "Swag Jacking" nowadays.. Stealing is stealing homie, (not directing this at anyone here) no matter how much you think you might be flattering the person you're copying.

Q. Aside from producing what do you do in your spare time?

A. Spend time with my two daughters, I love spending time with them.. I'm doing a song about them on my new album... Being a father is still a relatively new thing for me and it just amazes me how much they've taught me.. It's gonna be called "You'll Never Know". They've taught me so much about patience and how to love.. Nothing better in the world

Q. What is the best way to contact you ?

A. I dunno, I have a hard time keepin up with myself... You can try one of these....
www.rocbattle.com
www.myspace.com/rise2power1
gmayne187@gmail.com
If you're able to get anyone at any of these addresses, leave a msg with my lazy ass assistant, she's get back to you and give you another e-mail address to leave a message at, and another assistant will get back to you!

Q. Do you have your own website?

A. Nah, I keep getting hassled about the domains... because I'm Young and Fire, I wanted to call my website Youngfire.com, but I got a nasty e-mail from Youngfyre saying "Nigga, no you di'int!" I hate my life!

Q. What are some deals you have on beats?

A. Buy my beats, you get my beats.. Hey now!

Q. Anything you'd like to let other producers who are just starting know?

A. 1. Dont be afraid to experiment....
2. There are no dumb questions, no matter how much of a retard you can be
3. Plan ahead, get an ace in the hole, because this music shit ain't for everybody..

Q. Who do you hope to work with?

A. Ice Cube, Scarface, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z. C-Bo, Snoop, Crooked I, Joe Budden... Rocbattle wise I'd like to work with Moheat, Jkeys, Nemisick, Boon Doc, Style Misia, Mdot, Clinton Place, and some more I cant think of

07232007 beeen a long time shouldnt have left you

beeen a long time shouldnt have left you

if i release this tension and then remove the safety
theres no guarantee that my heart wont be so hasty
if this life was meant to be then my soul will recover greatly
and the devil will love me but the lord might proceed to hate me
if its agreed i shake the and make these bullets walk
down the street of your lungs up the road to your heart
if its suggested a party of 2 in your soul is requested
love and pain the two things that your carelessnes has brought
but my being has detested
so now that ive confessed it tell me what must be
shall i hate you for a second but love you for all of eternity?
regret the mess ive made and repent while the fire is burning me
or just let it go and forgive you based on all the memories
i cant bcuz thats the very thing thats killing me

08172006 PUBLIC RELATIONS

Public Relations

you say you want a wife and a life wit me
but your actions feel as if your fightin me
i dont know wether to run to you
or in the other direction
im at a loss for affection
on a search for perfection
but got lost in translation
im impatiently waitin
fingers crossed
eyes closed
knees sore
raw from
the prayin
but i think you playin
wit my emotions
but you dont know ive swam
through an ocean of tears
just to get to you
nearly drowned in the warm saltiness
but i survived just to have you
kill the effort with your words
making me out to be the bad girl
maybe it is me
maybe I am in the wrong
yeah
blame me for the love i gave you it was prolly too much huh?
you cant handle it i understand
blame me for your happiness
ill be the scapegoat for your pleasure
but the X
THAT MARKED THIS TREASURE
of my love
IS SOON TO BE JOINED BY THE X
THAT COULDNT MEASURE
or comprehend what they had
but its cool nothings guaranteed
but baby if you wanna leave just say so..........

DREAMS 04012006

dreams

lately things arent so great and i cant concentrate
the world confuses me and defecates
on my dreams
even tho it seems my nightmares are where i find relief
the horrors in my mind continue to rock my ass to sleep
wicked thoughts sing me a lullaby
my own conscience screams to me get a life
but what am i to do
i wanna fight my eyes are open but i cant move and i cant speak
i dont even have the energy
sleepless nights have been the only friend to me
they keep me from seeing the visions i see
insomniac wit some crown or yak
disguised like im sippin some chamomile tea
ridin solo wit Jesus
how can His life be killing me
peace and harmony continues to tease us
how can i have morality still in me
i wanna wake up but my own sins wont let me
and now im waiting on God to just come get me

IDIOT 09012006

you straight out front like i aint heard
you comin in loud and clear but i cant understand your words
im speaking english but your language is coming out absurd
i flip my words because of the trouble that you sit and stir
any lie will do to excuse you from being a retard
around this house i dont even breathe hard
im like an illegal alien in the white house with no green card
i lean hard on the wall cuz nobody lends a shoulder
and its backwards
im bending over
but im still getting fucked
im getting stuck
in these awkward situations
that make me look like
a fool thats losing her patience
how long will i be waitin
for you to come around
and respect me
instead of behind everything i do
u gotta come and neglect the
hardwork i put into makin this place livable
if u had any intelligence i dare you to make it visible
id win everytime
cuz you dont think youve crossed the line
friends we used to be but now im wanting to decline
the choice to be here wasnt mine
but u still didnt say no
u held ur breath
and exhaled a yes
and this aint my game but i still have to play tho
i guess if you say so
hold my lips
and lay low
avoid you at all costs
yeah u paid to be the boss
but u need to get refund
cuz if there was ever a defective product
in a human being
then im starting to see one
and even tho this poem it seems done
im just getting started
cuz im gonna show up again like a rerun
